The popularity of CBD oil has soared in recent years – but what is CBD oil exactly and what are its benefits? Using CBD oil can improve your overall wellbeing by supporting relaxation and reducing anxiety. With our help, learn how to use CBD oil as part of your daily routine to alleviate stress and soothe the mind and body.

What is CBD Oil?

It’s a common misconception that CBD is the same as marijuana. CBD comes from the cannabis sativa plant, like the more well-known THC. THC is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana that makes the user feel high, but can also trigger feelings of anxiety.

CBD, however, produces no narcotic effects. After several years of use as an alternative therapy, CBD is now widely accepted as a mainstream wellbeing product.

What Are the Benefits of CBD Oil?

CBD oil’s calming and anti-inflammatory properties mean that it’s often used to reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep quality and provide pain relief. When applied topically, there are many CBD oil benefits for skin, including its abilities to soothe and reduce inflammation. This makes it an excellent treatment for a number of skin concerns, including acne and dryness.

With so many uses and benefits of CBD oil, it is the perfect all-rounder. Whether you’re looking to calm the mind or soothe your skin, it’s a great way to support overall wellbeing.

CBD oil for anxiety

It’s thought that cannabidiol, or CBD oil, helps to alleviate anxiety by influencing the production of serotonin, a hormone that regulates anxiety levels. One of the most common ways to use CBD oil for anxiety is to apply it to pressure points, like the insides of your wrists or your temples.

How To Use CBD Oil: Massage & Pressure Points

When using CBD oil for anxiety and stress relief, it’s important to know which pressure points to focus on.

Pressure Points for Anxiety and Stress

Hall of impression point

This pressure point is situated in the middle of the forehead. It helps to alleviate headaches, feelings of anxiety and stress. When applying CBD oil to this pressure point, follow the steps below.

  • Step 1: Begin by locating the pressure point in between your eyebrows.
  • Step 2: Add a drop of CBD oil to your fingers.
  • Step 3: Apply pressure and massage the spot between your brows for five to ten minutes. Breathe deeply as you do so.

The temples are another key pressure point to be aware of when using CBD oil for anxiety relief.

Heavenly gate point

This pressure point is situated in the upper shell of your ear, at the tip of the triangle shape there. It’s thought to alleviate insomnia.

When you have located the pressure point, apply firm pressure in a circular motion. It may help to use a mirror to find the correct position.

Union valley point

This point is found between your thumb and index finger and is thought to reduce stress and headaches.

  • Step 1: Use the index finger and thumb from your other hand to apply pressure to this point.
  • Step 2: Massage in circular motions with CBD oil and breathe deeply.

Practice acupressure on these points whenever you feel tension or stress.

Shoulder well point

The shoulder well point is thought to relieve stress, help with muscle tension and alleviate headaches.

To find this point, pinch your shoulder muscle with your middle finger and thumb, then apply pressure and massage. You should release the pinch as you massage the pressure point. Though you may be able to do this yourself, it does require some flexibility. If you have a willing volunteer, ask them to help.

Great surge point

The feet contain several pressure points, which is why foot massage is an important part of reflexology. The great surge point is on the upper part of your foot, just below the intersection of your big toe and second toe.

Once you’ve found the point, apply pressure. Gently massage the oil into your skin for 4-5 seconds, taking note of any soreness or tension in your feet. As it’s an anti-inflammatory, CBD oil and balms can also be used to treat stiffness and swelling in the feet.

By following our advice, you’ll soon be reaping the benefits of using CBD oil for anxiety and sleep. Taking the time to formulate a wellbeing ritual each day can have a hugely beneficial impact on your mental health.
